The initial appointment is about getting to know you and identifying your goals. these might include:
- understanding why you react to situations in a particular way
- improving coping strategies
- modifying unhelpful behaviour or habits
It can be helpful to attend the initial session with a particular goal in ming, this might be one thing you would like to make a small change in that would lead you to feeling better.
Initially it is best to attend at least every 2 weeks as we get to know each other and develop a treatment plan.
Life can have it’s ups and downs, having a psychologist who you can check in with when you need to can be very helpful. Over the years a number of people have re-attended after a couple of years out of therapy. Many for a few booster sessions.
